Trust & Safety

18+ age policy.

Last updated · February 14, 2026

Spark is for adults only.

You must be at least 18 years old to create an account, send messages, appear in profile photos, or use any Spark feature. No exceptions. No "almost 18." No exceptions for any country or region.

1. How we verify age at signup

Every new Spark account must enter a date of birth on the signup form. The signup field is labeled DATE OF BIRTH (MUST BE 18+) and is enforced on both the client (browser) and the server (backend). Any account with a calculated age below 18 is rejected before it is created — we never store under-18 profiles.

Spark calculates your age using your DOB and the signup timestamp, and re-validates on every login. If our checks ever conclude that an account belongs to a minor, the account is immediately suspended pending review.

2. Enhanced verification

Spark may, at any time, require additional age verification, including:

  • A government-issued photo ID confirming your date of birth
  • A real-time selfie ("liveness") check matching your profile photo
  • A short on-screen video confirming you are who you say you are

These checks are triggered automatically when our trust & safety system flags a profile (e.g., reports from other users, age inconsistencies, suspicious photo signals). Accounts that refuse or fail enhanced verification are removed.

3. Photos & content

Every photo, video, voice note, and bio on Spark must depict or describe people aged 18 or older. The following are strictly prohibited and are removed on detection:

  • Photos of anyone under 18, including childhood throwbacks
  • Group photos where minors are clearly visible
  • Any sexual or suggestive content involving minors (zero-tolerance)
  • AI-generated or edited content depicting minors

Spark scans uploaded media against industry CSAM hash databases and reports any confirmed CSAM to the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children (NCMEC) as required by 18 U.S.C. § 2258A.

4. Reporting an underage user

If you believe someone on Spark is under 18, please tap Block & Report in any chat or profile and select "Suspected minor". You can also email us directly at business@sparkdatin.com with the profile URL or username. Reports are reviewed within 24 hours, and accounts are removed immediately on confirmation.

Reports are confidential — we never reveal the reporter's identity to the reported user.

5. Parents & guardians

If you are a parent or guardian and you discover a Spark account belonging to a minor in your care, email business@sparkdatin.com with proof of relationship and the account email. We will lock the account within 24 hours and delete the data on request.
